PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE AND COACH, BOSTON IRON (PRO GRID LEAGUE) AND CROSSFIT
I am Jessa Lemoine, a professional athlete on the Boston Iron and also a CrossFitter. I grew up in a small rural Massachusetts town always climbing up and bouncing off everything. My parents enrolled me in gymnastics at the age of three and I was a competitive gymnast all the way up through high school, where I also picked up track and field. After high school I decided I wanted to experience some warmer weather, so I attended the University of Georgia and was a pole vaulter on the track team. Upon graduation I realized that I missed the New England seasons and moved back to Massachusetts, but this time to the city of Boston. However, it wasn’t just the seasons that I missed. I also wanted to find a way to remain an athlete post college and that’s when I found CrossFit. I am now a full time head coach at Reebok CrossFit Back Bay as well as a full time CrossFit and Boston Iron GRID athlete. You can follow my team and the sport of GRID here: https://www.npgl.com/teams/boston-iron
I train 5-6 days a week, 1-2 times a day plus an active recovery day. My training includes lots of strength training and conditioning as well as skill and accessory work. My active recovery always involves a light sweat and full body mobility.
My dietary advise is be honest about what your goals are. A weight loss diet looks very different from an athlete’s performance diet. Understanding the science behind your way of eating will make it so much easier to stick to it!
I discovered Powerful Yogurt products from a fellow PY Ambassador and friend, Vinicius Agudo!
What I absolutely love about PY products is that I know exactly what ingredients I am putting into my body and that they are all natural and healthy. And the taste is perfect – not overwhelming, not artificial, just yummy! My favorite PY product and flavor is the Blueberry Açai Protein Drink!
My killer weekend would start on Friday with a fun CrossFit Hero WOD like “The Seven” with my gym buddies. Then Saturday I’d get outside and go hiking or hang out on the water all day. And Sunday morning I’d be sipping coffee on the front porch of my parent’s house and relaxing all day with my family. It may not sound “killer”, but these are all of my favorite things to do!
